A purposed gathering, believing forward on the prayer of Jesus in John 17: 21-23

21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

The main purpose of ONE NIGHT is to worship Jesus. That's it. And because of this, we choose to mention no other name. Exalting Jesus and celebrating His victory for us at the cross is our primary vision.

With that in mind, we absolutely believe that God uses this gathering to inspire and mobilize us as well as form a stronger foundation of trust across the body of Christ in our city. We also take the opportunity to pray together for each other and for our city, knowing that our prayers are powerful and transformative. It is a visible expression of unity between denominations, ethnicities, and generations: An opportunity to worship as ONE body and experience a foretaste of what the apostle John described in Revelation 7:9-10 of a great multitude before the throne worshiping the Lamb of God.

What we've seen happen since the first ONE NIGHT in 2015 has been orchestrated and sustained by God and God only. The idea of ONE NIGHT is two-fold.

First, we come together to worship as ONE church, visibly expressing the power of our unity. Jesus prayed that the watching world would see our unity and wonder, inquire, desire, and even come to know that the Father sent Him to show them true love. We know that we are always on mission to bring true transformation - that happens only with Christ - to our city through the hearts of our people. We are visibly proclaiming the good news of Jesus, and we desire to do it together more often, thus the worship night.
Second, the beauty of the Spirit moving through our city, is the movement. The 364 days outside of ONE NIGHT. The relationships, service, healing, transformation, understanding, acceptance, collaboration, worship, and God-orchestrated partnerships that have come out of the organizing of such an event. Between meetings, rehearsals, ministry events, other worship nights, organizing, relationship-building, church partnering, even pastors just meeting other pastors at ONE NIGHT has given God the open door he needs to offer opportunity after opportunity for collaboration, resourcing, partnerships, you name it. This also includes the attendees, who may experience a worship style they've never seen before but understand and respect now the cultures that surround us everyday. This is how the body works. The book of Romans tells us that "in Christ we, though many, form ONE body, and each member belongs to all the others" (12:5). This is how we desire to "live in harmony with one another" (12:16).
